Keep the town breathing in brass.

We back the people who carry Trosa’s civic sound into streets, schoolyards, harbors, and quiet winter rooms.

The association helps sustain instruments, uniforms, travel, and rehearsal conditions so the band can keep showing up in public life. We work slowly, locally, and with care for the generations who learned these songs before us and those who will inherit them next.

Timeline

1987

A support circle forms around rehearsal nights.

Parents, former players, and neighbors begin pooling practical help so Trosa Stadsmusikkar can keep rehearsing with consistency and public visibility.

2009

The street program returns to town squares and waterfront processions.

A renewed investment in youth players, repairs, and transport brings the ensemble back into the rhythm of civic ceremonies and seasonal gatherings.

2024

Support expands from preservation to active cultural stewardship.

The association now backs performances, mentoring, archives, and public encounters that keep the band rooted in present-day Trosa.

Faces of the association

Six people, six reasons the music keeps moving. Select a portrait to open a short note.

Hedvig keeps the practical edges together, from sponsor calls to making sure no rehearsal is cancelled for lack of transport or parts.

Leif documents old marches and rehearsal notes so younger players can hear where the ensemble’s phrasing and discipline come from.

Maja coordinates family outreach and makes sure first-time listeners become repeat guests, volunteers, and future players.

Oskar handles stage logistics and weather contingencies so outdoor performances feel calm even when the coast is not.

Inga leads instrument care days, matching older knowledge with patient maintenance so shared equipment lasts longer.

Nils builds quiet partnerships with local businesses that fund repairs, youth participation, and the costs audiences rarely see.

“When the brass starts at the harbor, people stop walking like strangers and start standing like neighbors.”

Anna Lind, summer audience member

“The work is not only about concerts. It is about making sure the town still has a sound that belongs to everyone.”

Hedvig Svensson, director
